Killaloe is the southernmost town on Lough Derg and is steeped in history, it is the home of Brian Boru, Ireland's heroic High King (1002-1014) who routed the Vikings from Ireland. In mid-July each year the village of Killaloe celebrates "Feile Brian Boru" - a weekend of partying with music, song, dance, and local competitions.
Killaloe is separated from its 'twin' town of Ballina by a bridge over the Shannon. It is the centre of a beautiful and historic district - a land of legend and story, endowed by nature with a beauty unsurpassed along the Shannon basin.
